Good morning, all.
Today's listening......Rush, Hemispheres and Grateful Dead, Aoxomoxoa
Recently I've made a switch from listening to NPR and Bob Ross while I paint to listening to music. Being a musician for 35 years, with OCD (mu-wah-ha-ha) I found myself unable to paint without doing air drums, guitar, bass etc. The music moves me too much and concentrating on painting was next to impossible. BUT.....the music actually helps me work faster as it's a huge motivating factor in my life.....and, frankly, music and art have saved my life more than once. Hopefully the new art shall reflect that.
Side note.....a lot of people have asked me over the years about my seemingly conflicted taste in music. For example...."How can you listen to Motorhead and Peter Tosh in the same sitting?"
It's a simple answer.....I'm a sponge and I try to learn and soak up everything.
I've noticed a lot of new traffic on my Instagram, my FB feed and my website, which is very exciting for me as the word is definitely spreading. There's especially a lot of fellow artists that are taking an interest in my work. I've seen their work too and I'm blown AWAY by the talent and creativity that is out there. I'm seeing work in so many different mediums that is mind boggling.
Cheers to all of you for your talent and skills! Its inspiring and motivating!
I'm currently in the middle of my second Grateful Dead inspired piece. I'm still not sure how many pieces will be in this series....the goal is five. Parts of it have not gone as expected and I've made a lot of changes.....and mistakes. That's ok. It's how we learn. For me, it's way easier to work with the flubs and missteps using paint on canvas instead of pen and ink on paper. We'll see what happens.....the final result is always interesting! It's easier to post pics of the progress on my IG than here......check it out! You can find me @richardmoorecelticdesigns
FYI all my prints of my work are printed locally by a great shop called Eagle Eye printing. Support your local small businesses!
Today's inspiring lyric from the mighty Neil Peart (RIP)....
'The cities were abandoned
And the forests echoed song
They danced and lived as brothers
They knew love could not be wrong'
